Herringbone Rope

It's fun to look back on some of my first beading projects. Sometimes I cringe and sigh when I see something I made four years ago. But mostly, I'm encouraged! Here is a herringbone rope that I made to accent a lamp work bead.

I also made a coiled bail for some vintage looking keys to dangle off of.
This bracelet was a challenge in learning to use tension properly. I always tend to bead too tightly when using peyote or herringbone stitches.
Each component looks like a pillow because hidden in each one is a bead that gives it a three dimentional appearance.
Looking back is such a great way to remind me of how much I've learned and how much there is still to learn. It also, reminds me to be adventurous. It's easy to become complacent with the "conventional".
It's like what Garfield the Cat said, "It's amazing what one can accomplish when one doesn't know what one can't do!"
